Fresh Wind Wednesday

For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. 1 Peter 3:10 (NLT). Your words have power. When speaking of or to others remember to be mindful of the words that you choose. It is easy to say the first thing that comes to your mind with no regard to how it can make others feel or look, but self-control of one’s tongue takes great discipline and maturity. Even if a statement is true, think about what your purpose is for saying it? Never stretch the truth and don’t make up scenarios based on the lenses you are looking out of or the limited information you have. Consider the manner in which you are communicating, is it to build up or tear down? Are you trying to make someone else feel or look bad, while trying to make yourself feel or look better? Are you deflecting your pain onto others? Try to hold your tongue, unless to share love or to uplift and encourage. Take inventory of your conversations and ask yourself, who am I hurting or helping? Let’s go and grow together. ADaubon
