“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” Col. 2:8 (NIV) In this text, Paul encourages the church in Colossae to remain rooted in their faith and not be led astray. In life there will always be different beliefs and practices that will attempt to entice you to participate in rituals and activities that are not rooted in God. We must be firmly established in Him, and not get entangled with anything that is not inspired by the God that we serve. As believers we must be extremely careful of what we choose to entertain. Before you indulge in anything ask yourself, is it rooted in God and established on the foundation of His principles? Keep your faith fixed on the Lord, not what’s popular at the time. Go to God for your source of peace, joy, and all that you need. As we meditate on the verse of the week, let us incorporate practices in our lives that are anchored in God. Pray regularly, meditate on the word of God and soak in His presence. Seek His face with your whole heart and abide in Him. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider. He created you and He will sustain you. Let’s go and grow together. ADaubon
